Products and Applications

Most gas separation membranes and gas-liquid contactors are designed for specific applications and are optimized for the liquids, gases, pressures, flows and temperatures of the target separation process.

In most cases, CMS designs and builds membrane products by partnering with customers to design, build, test and evaluate prototypes for a customer’s specific process and application.  After reviewing this website, we invite prospective customers to contact us to discuss your specific application.

Gas-Liquid Membrane Contactors

Oil Degassing
Removal of dissolved gases through CMS membrane contactors allows automated condition monitoring of dielectric oil by the electric power industry to avoid catastrophic failure of large electric transformers in the power grid.

Oil Dehydrator
Lubricating oils absorb moisture through the normal exchange of air throughbreather vents.  Dissolved and free water in oil has been shown to be detrimental to bearing and gear life.  CMS membrane contactors enable continuous removal of dissolved and free water from lubrication oils.  This reduces maintenance costs and down time.

Ozonation of Water
Chemically resistant CMS membrane contactors are ideal for bubbleless ozonation of water in semiconductor manufacturing.  Ozone is injected into ultra-pure process water for final purification at the point-of-use in semiconductor plants.  Conventional injectors are unsuitable for semiconductor fluids, as gas bubbles in semiconductor fluids are known to decrease yield of saleable chips.  The ozonation gas/liquid contactor is designed specifically for this application.  It is entirely constructed of highly fluorinated polymers for excellent chemical resistance.

Gas Separations

Nitrogen Enriched Air
Air enriched with nitrogen to 81% NEA has been shown to reduce NOx emissions from on-road diesel engines by 50%. The result is reduced exhaust emissions and cleaner air. Similar benefits have been demonstrated for stationary diesel engines used for power generation.

Gasoline Vapor Recovery
CMS cartridges are the heart of a vapor processor designed to meet CARBPhase II Enhanced Vapor Recovery regulations that are designed to improve air quality and reduce smog created by gasoline vapor emissions from retail gasoline stations in California.

Please contact CMS to discuss your gas separation or gas-liquid contacting application.
